roadNet is a FREE plugin for QGIS, the leading Open Source desktop GIS package. Switching to QGIS and roadNet could generate cost savings and efficiencies for your Council.
roadNet is an integrated solution for managing a Scottish Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) complying with BS7666 standards, using the conventions set out for the Scottish Gazetteer. It also enables the creation and management of associated street data (ASD), required By the Scottish Road Works Register (SRWR). The application manages all information required by these standards, as well as additional data fields that are of use internally by local authorities.
In addition, roadNet includes RAMP, an asset management module, which enables local authorities to record and maintain asset management plan data, recommended to ensure to best value within a roads authority.
QGIS itself is a functionally rich, widely used desktop GIS system, which has no purchase cost or annual maintenance charge. Likewise, roadNet is free to download and use via the QGIS public repository. You’d also be joining a global Open Source GIS community
So, if it’s all free to use, where’s the catch? Well, there isn’t one. You can start using it now if you wish.
However, if you would like assistance with migrating your existing LSG and ASD data, deploying QGIS and roadNet, training in QGIS and/or roadNet or ongoing technical support then we are here to help. Additional services we can provide to complement roadNet are:
